4-15-13

Their faces say everything
The photographs show horror
Horror, the raw reality of the event
Shattered glass reflects newly shattered lives

I think broken hearts are visible

How can we see these and not feel a tsunami of emotions
The despair and confusion shown by blood-soaked concrete
Strange how an inhumane act brings out the humanity in all of us
Tears pouring down faces of witnesses flood us with empathy

I think broken hearts are visible

One Month Later

It's been a month since my last post, so here are some updates on my life, because of course you care.

  • Lion's Pride FRC team 4845 ended up in 28th place out of the 51 teams in the Lake Superior Regional,  pretty good for our Rookie year.  The competition was a really great experience. It was inspiring to see what other teams were able to do, and the high-energy, competitive-yet-friendly atmosphere was part of what made it so fun.  I can't wait to start the next season!

  • The DSSO Youth Orchestras' Lollipop Concert was on Sunday the 10th.  In case you don't know, I play viola in the Concert orchestra.  Since the finale song was from LotR, I learned that orchestra is a place where people wear elf ears with no shame. :)

  • The LCA boys' bball team made it into the state tournament, so we got a day off of school to go watch them play.  They lost their first game, but making it there was an accomplishment, and for the rest of us, it was nice to take a trip down to the cities and skip school.  It's pretty much always a good day if you can skip school, right?

That's pretty much all of the not-everyday stuff that's happened.  For the last few weeks I've been stuck in a perpetual loop of procrastination.  Less than two months until school's out, I can do this.
See you sooner next time, hopefully.
